The right Samsara alternative depends on which part of Samsara you are replacing: the electronic logging device (ELD), the dash cams or the whole platform. As of October 2026, eight vendors with US trucking products cover that ground, and each has an ELD on FMCSA's registered list. Only one of the eight, Azuga, published prices on the pages we opened.

The eight, grouped by what each is built around:

  1. Motive: integrated ELD, AI dash cam and fleet card platform
  2. Geotab: telematics plans with a partner marketplace
  3. Verizon Connect: the Reveal fleet platform
  4. Teletrac Navman: the TN360 platform
  5. Azuga: fleet tracking plans with published prices
  6. GPS Insight: fleet and field service platform
  7. Lytx: video safety and coaching
  8. Netradyne: AI cameras with a driver performance rating

How this list was built

Every vendor fact comes from the vendor's own public page or FMCSA's ELD list, opened on October 20, 2026, and linked at the claim. The list is grouped, not ranked. There are no review-site star ratings and no claims that one product beats another. Prices appear only where the vendor publishes them. Customer counts appear only where the vendor states them, attributed to the vendor.

The 8 alternatives in detail

1. Motive

Motive calls its platform "A fully integrated suite of products, powered by AI," with product lines for driver safety, fleet management, maintenance, spend management and workforce management (Motive). Its ELD page says the Vehicle Gateway plugs into "all standard 9-pin, 6-pin, and OBDII diagnostic ports" and supports team driving with "up to nine co-drivers." Motive's pricing link goes to a contact page with no prices. Fits fleets that want logs, AI dash cams and the Motive fleet card from one vendor. The full head-to-head is in Samsara vs Motive.

2. Geotab

Geotab sells two plans, GO Core and GO, and says both "include Geotab hardware in the subscription price" (Geotab software packages). Full hours of service (HOS) and ELD compliance is listed under the GO Plan. The Geotab Marketplace adds partner tools; the plans page counts "400+ solutions from 400+ partners." Geotab also works through authorized resellers, and its comparison page says each one has direct access to Geotab's support teams. Fits fleets that want hardware included, a local reseller and add-ons from partners. See Geotab vs Samsara for the side-by-side.

3. Verizon Connect

Verizon Connect's home page describes its Reveal platform as a way to "Lower fuel waste, boost safety with AI video, and maximize daily productivity on one platform" (Verizon Connect). Its compliance page says partnerships with "a growing number of car and truck makers" mean "you don't need any additional GPS tracking hardware," and that drivers get "around-the-clock ELD phone support." Drivers use a Roadside Inspection Mode in the mobile app. Pages show "See plans & pricing" buttons but no prices. Fits fleets that run newer trucks from supported makers and want fewer devices to install.

4. Teletrac Navman

Teletrac Navman's home page says it helps fleets "Simplify the complex by managing your vehicles and equipment in one powerful platform" (Teletrac Navman). Its ELD page lists HOS forecasting that lets drivers "Forecast when you can return to duty after a rest period," audible rest-break alerts, and a DVIR app "that integrates directly with ELD and maintenance platforms." Pricing runs through an interactive "Build Your Solution" product builder; no prices are shown. Fits fleets that want to shape a package online before a sales call.

5. Azuga

Azuga is the one vendor on this list that publishes prices. As of October 20, 2026, its pricing page listed BasicFleet at $25, SafeFleet at $30 and CompleteFleet at $35 per vehicle per month. Each plan lists "Add SafetyCam AI - $41.99 per month," while the page's banner says the camera starts "at just $49.99/month," so confirm the camera price in your quote. Those plan lists do not include the ELD. Azuga's ELD page calls it "An addition to Azuga Fleet," so ask for the ELD price separately. The pricing page states no contract term. Fits fleets that want to budget from a published per-vehicle price.

6. GPS Insight

GPS Insight describes itself as "A Fleet and Field Service Platform Covering GPS Tracking, Dash Cams, and ELD Compliance" (GPS Insight). Its ELD page says "GPS Insight ELD Complete gives you a flexible BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) solution," and "You can purchase a tablet from us or use your own device." It says logs "can be transferred instantly through Bluetooth, wireless connections, or email" at roadside. No prices are shown. Fits fleets that want drivers on their own phones or tablets, or that also run field service vehicles.

7. Lytx

Lytx's headline is "Video Safety and Telematics for Fleets," and it describes "adaptive coaching workflows that help drivers build lasting safe habits" (Lytx). Lytx says it has helped "more than 7,000 organizations." It also lists a "Lytx+ with Geotab" integration, so a fleet can pair Lytx video with Geotab telematics. Pricing sits behind a "Get Pricing" form. Fits fleets that want video coaching at the center of the safety program. Our Lytx vs Samsara comparison covers the cameras.

8. Netradyne

Netradyne's home page lists "100% drive time capture," managed and self-managed coaching, and a "GreenZone performance rating system" (Netradyne). It describes "recognition-based safety for drivers" and says "200M+ DriverStars" have been awarded. No pricing is published. Fits fleets that want cameras that record good driving as well as risky events. More camera options are in our guide to the best dash cam for trucking fleets.

How to check an alternative's ELD on FMCSA's lists

Every vendor above had at least one ELD on FMCSA's Registered ELDs list on October 20, 2026. That matters because a carrier that must use an ELD "must use only an ELD that is listed on" FMCSA's registered list (49 CFR 395.22(a)), a final rule in force as of October 2026.

Check the exact device before you sign:

  1. Search the registered list for the device name or company.
  2. Match the model, software version and ELD identifier to your quote.
  3. Search the Revoked ELDs list for the same model and identifier.

Step 3 matters because several vendors here have both current and revoked entries. On October 20, the revoked list carried older devices from Azuga ("Hours of Service", identifier HOS002), GPS Insight ("ELD-2000" and "GPS Insight ELD Flex"), Netradyne (models D210 and D430) and Omnitracs, among others. The identifiers named in the table above were not on it. Match the identifier, not the company name.

FMCSA's list also says devices "are self-certified by the manufacturer" and that FMCSA "does not endorse any electronic logging devices." When a vendor page says its ELD is "certified" or "approved," read that as the vendor's own claim. For the full buying checklist, see how to choose an ELD. If you run a handful of trucks, our list of the best ELD for small fleets includes devices with published prices.

What to settle before you switch from Samsara

Switching platforms means moving records you are required to keep. These are the questions to settle with Samsara and the new vendor before the changeover date.

QuestionWhy it mattersRule (as of October 2026)
How do we export six months of logs and supporting documents from Samsara?Carriers keep records of duty status and supporting documents for 6 months49 CFR 395.8(k)
Where will the 6-month ELD backup live after the switch? The backup must sit on a device separate from the original data49 CFR 395.22(i)
How do we keep the last 3 months of inspection reports and repair certifications?DVIRs and certifications are kept 3 months49 CFR 396.11(a)(4)
What do the contract terms say about the end date and renewal?Neither Samsara's pricing page nor its plans page states a termRead your signed order form
Who removes the old hardware and installs the new?Install plans differ by vendorAsk both vendors in writing
Will drivers need new phones, tablets or mounts?A portable ELD must be mounted in a fixed position, visible from the seat49 CFR 395.22(g)

Run both systems side by side on a few trucks for a few weeks before you move the whole fleet. That gives drivers time to learn the new app and lets you confirm the roadside transfer works.
